This is an affordable self study small business do it yourself full course training
tutorial that will teach you how local search engine optimization works with many free
web design tips .Paul, a seasoned marketing manager, was driving
with a friend when he asked Paul what his secret was for being able to close so many
sales. Paul told him there was no secret, he simply went to the public library and looked
up in the Dunn and Bradstreet book all his targeted prospects he wanted to sell. The
information he obtained gave him the following information:
- Business Name
- Address
- Telephone Number
- Fax Number

- Owner

- Decision Makers

- Annual Sales
- Date started
- SIC Code

He posted all this great information on 3X5 cards for reference
(remember them?). Then he plotted them out on a street map. So he could make more sales
calls in less time.
Then he made a portfolio and sales presentation so he would be prepared to show and tell
each time he met with the decision makers.
The great thing about using this system is that Paul knew where he was going each and
every day. Because it was plotted on a map, he knew where to start, and knew where he
finished. Therefore, the next day was easy. He never had to think about where or what he
was going to do the next morning. All Paul had to do was follow the road map he had
created.
When he made sales calls it was very easy to see people because he already knew about
their business and who the decision makers were before he even walked in the door. All he
had to do was ask to see that individual by their name. And in most cases the gatekeeper
would simply tell them that Paul is here to see you, and he would get to see them
immediately, even without an appointment.
Don't get us wrong, he used to chuckle when sales people would call on a business and ask
who bought their product or service. This was usually the dialogue:
- What company are you with?
- They're not interested in what you have
- You need to have an appointment
- They already buy from their friend
- You'll have to call and make an appointment!

- Do you have an appointment?
- What are you selling?
- They're busy!
- What is this about?
- We could go on and on

That would be enough to wear anybody out! Why would you want to waste
your time on the phone, when you can see them immediately?
Within four hours, Paul would average four new interviews each and every day that
resulted in multiple sales each time he applied this system.
Yes - No - Or Let Me Go
This means Yes he would see the decision maker, No he would not see the decision maker.
If Paul did not see the decision maker he would get their business card and leave
immediately. He would never leave his business card.
He would then circle the block to search for new opportunities. After he had done that he
need never return because he had penetrated and verified all the business data he needed
for that geographic area.
This reduced the time he spent prospecting by almost 80% and permitted him to see more
prospects in one day than most salespeople see in a week.
Those he did not see for whatever reason made up his telephone list that he would call
early in the morning or late the afternoon. The reason he would not leave a business card
is because he did not want to call them and have them tell him they got his card and were
not interested in what he had to offer right off the bat.
When Paul made his telephone calls, he knew he would not waste any of his time with wrong
numbers, moved, or not in business any more calls. He would call daily until he talked to
the decision maker. One or two things happen:
1. He would get an appointment
2. They would say no
The ones that said no, would go on his monthly newsletter mailing list for ever. Until
such time they called him. They do eventually call.
So he told his friend, it's just like dominoes. Once their lined up, just start with the
first one, and the rest will fall over automatically. Then he thought for a minute and
said Eureka It's "Domino Marketing". Paul then drove immediately to the county courthouse
and filed the name "Domino Marketing"
It took Paul over five years to define what he does. People would say:
*You're a sales trainer
*You're a motivator
The answer is no! This is what he has developed.
